Amber Oakes is a new Seattle-based singer/producer duo creating folk-tinged electronic pop songs with a hefty dose of vocal harmonies and a splash of polyrhythm to go along. The two friends sang folk and pop covers together for years before turning to electronic production and remote collaboration, drawing on inspiration and support from the growing industry community of womxn/women producers in the local Seattle music scene.
Included in their range of electronic, folk, and pop influences are Thom Yorke, Juana Molina, Sufjan Stevens, The Postal Service, Sylvan Esso, Imogen Heap, (and a heap of other female vocalists). They incorporate millennial electropop sensibilities for a sound that is one part chill sound bath, one part dance vibes.
